Israeli TV reports: War Cabinet’s decision to retaliate against Iranian attack
Tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate, as Channel 12 Television in Israel reported that the Tel Aviv administration has decided on a response to Iran’s recent air attack. Without citing a specific source, the news outlet claimed that the War Cabinet has decided to respond “clearly and effectively” to Iran’s attack.
The aim of Israel’s reaction is to send a message that attacks of Iran’s magnitude will not go unanswered. However, Israel also emphasized that they do not want their response to escalate into a regional war or endanger the coalition that is working together against Iranian threats. Israel intends to coordinate its actions with the United States in order to address the situation.
According to the report, the War Cabinet will convene again tomorrow to further discuss the situation and plan their response. Previous reports by Channel 12 indicated that various retaliatory options were discussed during the meeting, with each option involving a “painful retaliatory attack against Iran.”
The recent escalation in tensions began when Israel carried out an air attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Army, including 2 generals. Iran responded by launching an attack on Israel on April 13 using kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. While Israel managed to intercept most of the attacks using air defense systems, a missile did hit a military base in the south.
The cycle of attacks and retaliation between Israel and Iran has raised concerns about further escalation and the potential for a broader conflict in the region. The situation remains tense as both countries remain on edge awaiting the next moves in this ongoing conflict.
