
Istanbul and Turkish Cypriot Chambers Hold Joint Council Meeting – BRTK

President of Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) Visits Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
The President of Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), along with his delegation, recently visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) for traditional Assembly meetings and various visits. During the visit, a joint assembly meeting was held with the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce to discuss economic development and bilateral relations.
In his speech, Turgay Deniz, President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, expressed gratitude for Turkey’s continuous support in their struggle for economic development and existence. He emphasized the importance of state-to-state relations and highlighted the efforts made to strengthen relations with chambers of commerce and industry, especially with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. Deniz mentioned the concrete steps taken during his presidency to foster collaboration between chambers in Ankara, Istanbul, Mersin, and other cities. He emphasized the need for increased partnerships and cooperation between businesspeople in Turkey and TRNC, stating the importance of turning trust and solidarity into concrete partnerships and investments.
Erdal Bahçıvan, President of Istanbul Chamber of Industry, acknowledged the growth and maturity of Northern Cyprus, referring to it as a “mature brother.” He expressed pride in the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and emphasized its significance on the global stage. Bahçıvan compared Nicosia and Kyrenia to Istanbul, Edirne, and Ankara, stating their equal value and importance. He highlighted the strategic importance of the Eastern Mediterranean region in terms of geopolitics, energy, transportation, and logistics.
Following the speeches, a joint council meeting was held, providing an opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas between the delegations.
The visit and joint assembly meeting between the Istanbul Chamber of Industry and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce signify the commitment to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen ties between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
