Istanbul Bust: 50 Million Lira Drug Smuggling Operation Exposed

Police in Istanbul have made a major bust, seizing millions of counterfeit and smuggled medicines from a pharmaceutical factory in Küçükçekmece. The Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch Directorate teams identified the factory as the source of fake medicines that had been brought into the country with raw materials from abroad.

After monitoring the factory for a period of time, the police noticed a large amount of raw materials being brought into the facility at midnight. This prompted them to launch a raid, during which they captured one suspect who was identified as the owner of the workshop.

Upon searching the premises, authorities found 2 million 343 thousand medicines with a market value of up to 50 million liras, 243 thousand 800 slimming teas, and a substantial amount of pharmaceutical raw materials.

The detained suspect is now in custody, as legal action against him gets underway. The investigation into the smuggling and production of fake medicines is still ongoing. This bust is a significant win for law enforcement in the ongoing battle against counterfeit and unsafe pharmaceuticals being circulated in the market.
