Istanbul Facing Impending Drought as Dam Levels Plummet, Occupancy Rate Hits 18%
Water Rates Drop in Istanbul Dams; Ömerli Dam Remains the Fullest
The latest data reveals a decrease in water rates in several dams in Istanbul. The water rate in Terkos has dropped to 9 percent, while Büyükçekmece, Sazlıdere, and Pabuçdere dams have experienced a decrease to 4 percent.
However, Ömerli Dam stands out as the fullest dam in Istanbul. This particular dam is supplied with water brought from Melen. Despite the overall decrease in water rates, the occupancy rate of the Ömerli Dam remains stable at 40 percent.
On the other hand, the Darlık Dam’s occupancy rate has been measured at a slightly lower 30 percent, indicating a slight decrease from its previous level of 40 percent.
