Istanbul Governorship Responds to Allegations on Ozgur Ozel’s Vehicle Parking

Controversy Surrounds CHP Chairman Özgür Özel’s Event at Atatürk Cultural Center
In a recent statement, the Istanbul Governorate addressed reports claiming that the official vehicle of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was not permitted entry into the closed parking lot of the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) during a public event. The governorship clarified that these reports are misleading.
The statement emphasized that the alleged congestion at the entrance to the parking area was a result of general traffic conditions, thus allowing Özel’s vehicle to proceed smoothly to the event. It dismissed claims that the vehicle was impeded from accessing the parking lot.
The controversy arose in light of an attack on Özel shortly after an event commemorating a significant occasion at AKM, where a confrontation reportedly involving physical aggression took place. The Istanbul Police Department also responded to the accusations regarding Özel’s vehicle, stating that the information circulating was inaccurate.
This incident has further fueled discussions around security measures for political figures and highlights an ongoing tension in the political landscape.
