Italian and Georgian authorities crack down on ‘Daltons’ gang operation in 4 provinces
An Azerbaijani businessman narrowly escaped with his life after being targeted in a violent attack at a coffee house in the Gürsu district on September 25. The assailant, wearing a helmet, entered the establishment and opened fire on the businessman, injuring him in the legs. After the attack, the suspect fled the scene with another individual waiting on a motorcycle outside. Emergency medical teams responded to the incident and transported the injured victim to the hospital for treatment.
During his statement to the police at the hospital, the victim revealed that he had been threatened by a criminal organization known as the ‘Daltons’ for some time. The organization had been demanding extortion from him, leading to the violent attack at the coffee house.
Authorities quickly took action following the incident, with the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate of the Provincial Police Department leading the investigation. The suspects responsible for the attack were identified as members of the ‘Daltons’ criminal organization, with connections to gang leaders in Italy and Georgia. The organization was known for threatening businesspeople and confiscating their assets through various illegal means.
Following extensive surveillance and investigation, a series of coordinated raids were conducted on October 4 in Bursa, Istanbul, Muğla, and Hatay. Several key members of the criminal organization, including the injured organization manager and a businessman, were apprehended during the operations. It was discovered that the ‘Daltons’ frequently utilized motorcycles and never removed their helmets during protests and criminal activities.
Footage of the armed attack on the businessman was captured on security cameras, providing crucial evidence for the investigation. The suspects were seen arriving on a motorcycle, carrying out the attack, and swiftly fleeing the scene.
In a separate operation conducted in the Avcılar Denizköşkler District, two additional suspects associated with the ‘Daltons’ organization were apprehended with the assistance of special operations units.
The swift and decisive actions taken by law enforcement have brought several members of the ‘Daltons’ criminal organization to justice, signaling a significant blow to their illegal activities in the region. Authorities continue to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in organized crime to ensure the safety and security of the community.
