Italy Warns Sending NATO Troops to Ukraine Could Trigger World War 3

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani has expressed his opposition to the idea of NATO sending troops to Ukraine, following French President Emmanuel Macron’s mention of the possibility. Speaking at an event in Verona, Tajani stated that he believes NATO should not enter Ukraine, as engaging in warfare with Russia could lead to the risk of World War III.
Tajani emphasized that Italy is not at war with Russia and that while they support Ukraine’s freedom and defend international law, they do not want to engage in military conflict with Russia. He mentioned that Italy is providing military, economic, and technical assistance to Kiev, but believes that going to war would be a mistake and not supported by all Italians.
Furthermore, Tajani made it clear that Italian troops will not be deployed to Ukraine, highlighting their efforts in protecting commercial ships in various regions and promoting peace. Meanwhile, Pope Francis has also weighed in on the Ukraine situation, calling for negotiations and expressing the importance of seeking peaceful solutions.
Tajani defended the Pope’s comments, stating that they were misconstrued and that the true message was one of peace and diplomacy. He urged for dialogue and negotiation as the way forward in resolving conflicts, rather than resorting to military intervention.
