In his message, Dervişoğlu expressed his pride in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and the celebration of July 20 as Peace and Freedom Day. He shared his experience of attending the official parade in Nicosia on this momentous day.
Exactly 50 years ago, the operation was initiated to bring peace to both sides, to stop the atrocities against Turkish Cypriots, and to uphold the rights and justice of the Turkish Cypriot community. Dervişoğlu paid his respects to the heroes of the Cyprus cause, including Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the esteemed statesman Rauf Denktaş, and the brave martyrs who sacrificed for independence.
He emphasized the importance of remembering and honoring the struggles and sacrifices that led to the success of the cause. Dervişoğlu concluded by declaring a strong message: “Cyprus is Turkish, and it will forever remain Turkish.” This anniversary serves as a reminder of the enduring spirit of freedom and courage that defines the history of Cyprus.
