JICA Delegation Visits Turkmenbashi International Seaport
Representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently paid a visit to the international seaport of Turkmenbashi to discuss potential collaboration opportunities. The visit included a detailed presentation of the port’s capabilities, equipment, services, and tariffs at the ferry and passenger terminal meeting room.
During their visit, the Japanese experts explored each terminal of the Turkmenbashi port, gaining insight into its capacities and facilities. They also learned about the unique advantage of the “customs storage” regime for transit cargo, which allows for the storage of goods without customs duties or clearance for up to 3 years. This service is attractive to many clients, as it streamlines the processing of customs documentation and reduces transportation costs.
Harnessing the full potential of the Turkmenbashi port has the potential to enhance regional logistics, breathe new life into the trans-Caspian corridor, and stimulate economic growth in the region and neighboring countries.
