“John Scalzi named guest of honour at Budapest Book Fest with Netherlands”

American Sci-Fi Writer John Scalzi and The Netherlands to be Honored Guests at Budapest Book Festival

This year’s International Book Festival in Budapest, held from September 28 to October 1, will be graced by the presence of American Science Fiction writer John Scalzi and the Netherlands as the guest of honor country. The Association of Hungarian Publishers and Book Sellers (MKKE) announced this on Wednesday.

Scalzi, who was elected president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2010, will be receiving the Grand Award of Budapest from the city’s mayor during the festival. He has already published 14 of his works in Hungarian.

The Netherlands, this year’s guest of honor country, will be represented by writer-journalist Arnon Grunberg, author of The Man Without Illness, and Annamare Bon, a widely popular writer in youth literature. The Dutch stand will offer thematic talks, round-table discussions, and recitals from books. Literary translations and the profession of book illustrations will also be highlighted.

This year’s festival will also feature Italian writer Alessandro Baricco, who will attend the presentation of the Grand Literary Award during the opening event. He will also meet readers at a book signing event.

The festival promises to be an exciting event for literature enthusiasts, with a diverse lineup of guests and activities. More information can be found on their website.
