Turkish Cinema Legend Türkan Şoray Visits TRNC
The renowned actress, Türkan Şoray, known as the doyen of Turkish cinema, has made a special visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to attend the founding anniversary and Academic Year opening ceremony of Girne American University.
Arriving at Ercan Airport, Türkan Şoray expressed her pride in being in free Cyprus and shared her happiness in meeting her Turkish Cypriot brothers. She conveyed her excitement and affection for the Turkish Cypriot people, describing them as warm and friendly, qualities she greatly admires.
Reflecting on her previous visit to Cyprus 50 years ago, Şoray recalled unforgettable memories, including dancing with the Founding President Denktaş and cherishing photographs from that time. During her current visit, she will be honored with a doctorate at the GAU Academic Year opening ceremony.
Additionally, Türkan Şoray will participate in the screening of the movie “Selvi Boylum Al Yazılım”, where she starred alongside Kadir İnanır. The screening will take place at an open-air cinema in Kyrenia Ramadan Cemil Square, organized in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Kyrenia Municipality, and BRTK.
The presence of Türkan Şoray in TRNC has created a buzz of excitement among fans and admirers, marking a special occasion for both the actress and the Turkish Cypriot community.
