Bertan Özerdağ, a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the age of 22, who has served as a Judge of the Accident Court, Senior Judge of the Accident Court, President of the Accident Court, and High Court Judge, has started his duty as the “youngest” Chief Justice of the High Court.
Saying “Justice is always the most important thing, it is to ensure justice,” 50-year-old Özerdağ emphasized that his goal is to ensure that courts provide services for the future in a faster and better way, using technology and digitalization.
Emphasizing the importance of increasing the number of judges to ensure speedy trials and reduce the number of cases before judges to healthier levels for a speedy trial, Özerdağ said that technological investment is a primary goal as the Chief Justice of the High Court.
Özerdağ, who also mentioned the “investigations on fake prescription and diploma cases,” stated that cases brought before the court are being considered.
Having taken office on May 16, High Court Chief Justice Bertan Özerdağ gave his first interview to the Turkish Cypriot News Agency (TAK), discussing the problems of the judiciary and explaining his goals.

He also mentioned the challenges in the judiciary system, particularly in the areas of criminal cases, and shared his vision for the future of the judiciary system in improving efficiency and digitalization.
