Kamikaze drone attack kills YPG terrorists at US base
Heightened Tensions as Pro-Iran Militias Attack American Base in Syria
As tensions escalate between pro-US and pro-Iran militias in the Middle East, a new retaliation has occurred today following the recent bombardment in Iraq and Syria. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that pro-Iranian militias launched an attack on an American base in the Deir ez-Zor region on the Syria-Iraq border using a kamikaze drone.
The attack resulted in the death of 5 YPG terrorists at the American base, with many US soldiers being injured. Additionally, 20 YPG members at the base were reported to have been injured as well. The Al Omar oil field, which is the largest US base in Syria, was the location of the kamikaze drone attack. The Islamic Resistance, the umbrella organization of pro-Iranian forces in Iraq, claimed responsibility for the attack on the Al Omar oil field.
SOHR’s announcement of the attack was quickly disseminated by the international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) under the code ‘breaking news’. As of now, there has been no statement from Washington regarding this latest retaliation. The United States has around 2,500 soldiers in Iraq and approximately 900 in Syria. Iran and its proxies have been pushing for the withdrawal of US troops from both Iraq and Syria. Since October 7, pro-Iran militias have carried out over 170 attacks on American bases.
The attack serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions in the region, with both pro-US and pro-Iran forces engaging in aggressive actions. As the situation continues to unfold, the international community will be closely monitoring developments in the Middle East.
