Kartal Jewelers Hit by $1 Million Robbery: Surveillance Captures Every Moment
A jewelry store robbery worth approximately 1 million lira took place yesterday in Kartal. The incident occurred at around 04:50 on Saraylar Street in the Cevizli Neighborhood. Five armed and masked individuals arrived at the jeweler in a car and proceeded to break the shutters and door locks of the shop with a crowbar. Once inside, the thieves smashed the counter and display windows, making off with the valuable gold items before fleeing in their vehicle. Despite efforts by citizens in the area to stop them, the robbers managed to escape.
During the escape, shots were fired from the thieves’ gun, resulting in damage to the window of an apartment across from the jeweler. Police were alerted to the scene and promptly dispatched to investigate. Security cameras at the jeweler captured the entire theft in detail, providing crucial evidence for the authorities to track down the culprits.
The owner of the shop, Bahattin Gündüz, expressed his shock and frustration over the incident, stating, “I am waiting for them to be caught. I have over 1 million in damages. The fact that they shot at the building opposite and endangered innocent lives is a grave concern. I wish that only property was harmed, not lives. I am grateful that the police arrived on the scene promptly and that no one was hurt.”
Authorities are currently working on apprehending the suspects involved in the robbery. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
