Kayseri on Alert: Person Wanted Amid Ongoing Heavy Rainfall

AFAD, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkey, issued a statement regarding the heavy rainfall that has been affecting the Black Sea and Central Anatolia regions. The statement informed that floods and inundations have occurred in these regions, prompting the intervention efforts of AFAD teams.

Following information received from the Meteorology Department, it was announced that the yellow rain warning has been lifted in several provinces including Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Sivas, Kayseri, Aksaray, Niğde, Adana, Osmaniye, and Mersin. However, the orange rain warning is still in effect in Samsun and Ordu provinces until 08:00 in the morning.

In Kayseri, a landslide in the Güllüce neighborhood of the Bünyan district led to the evacuation of 8 vehicles and 32 citizens who were stranded due to the heavy rainfall. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate a citizen who is believed to be in a vehicle swept away by the landslide.

Tragically, in Kırşehir, a citizen lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters. Our thoughts are with the victim and his family during this difficult time.

In Samsun, 150 agricultural workers were moved to safe areas as a precaution against the excessive rainfall, while in Nevşehir, 15 citizens affected by the floods were also evacuated to safety.

AFAD emphasized the importance of heeding warnings from authorities and urged citizens to stay informed about the situation. The organization continues to monitor the developments in the affected regions and stands ready to provide assistance as needed.
