Kazakh Athletes Dominate Assyk Atu and Advance to Audaryspak Final at Nomad Games

ASTANA – Kazakhstan’s assyk atu (knocking out knucklebones) team showed great performance at the fifth World Nomad Games, securing a victory against the Mongolian team in the first round with a score of 2:0 on Sept. 9.

In addition to their success in assyk atu, three Kazakh athletes have made it to the final in audaryspak, also known as horseback wrestling. The competition, which includes 64 athletes from nine countries, has seen strong performances from the Kazakh team.

Head coach of the Kazakhstan national audaryspak team, Zhanbatyr Bekmusayev, expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are considered the strongest teams in audaryspak. The Kazakh athletes competing in the final are Yermek Kuralbay (60 kilograms), Almat Laptibek (70 kilograms), and Daryn Otkelbay (80 kilograms).

The World Nomad Games continue to showcase the traditional sports and cultural heritage of nomadic societies, with athletes from various countries demonstrating their skills in unique and compelling competitions.
