Ablaikhan Zhussupov, a talented Kazakh boxer, emerged victorious at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Zhussupov secured the gold medal after a dramatic turn of events in the final bout against Khavasbek Asadullaye.
During the intense fight in the light middleweight (71-kilogram) category, Uzbek boxer Asadullaye was disqualified for biting Zhussupov on the shoulder. The referee initially missed this foul play, but upon further review, it was confirmed that Asadullaye had indeed bitten his opponent during a clinch, leaving visible teeth marks.
Following an appeal by the Kazakh side, Asadullaye was officially stripped of his title. According to ASBC rules, Zhussupov was declared the winner of the bout by disqualification, earning him the prestigious gold medal.
With this victory, Kazakhstan’s medal tally at the Asian Elite Boxing Championship remains impressive, with a total of ten medals. The national team now proudly holds five gold medals, four silver medals, and one bronze medal, showcasing their strength and skill in the sport.
