Kazakh Boxers Qualify for Five Spots at 2024 Paris Olympics

The Kazakh national boxing team has once again proven their strength and skill, securing five coveted tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics. At a world-licensed boxing tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy on March 11, 11 boxers, both men and women, battled it out for a chance to represent their country on the world stage.

Among the standout performers were Saken Bibosynov, a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, world champion Sabyrkhan Mahmud, and Aslanbek Shymbergenov, the esteemed captain of the national team and a dual titleholder as world and Asian champion. Nurbek Oralbay and Aibek Oralbay also secured their places at the upcoming Olympics, adding to the team’s success.

While the men’s team celebrated their victory, the women’s team unfortunately fell short of securing Olympic licenses in their respective categories. Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev congratulated the triumphant boxers, highlighting the nation’s support and high expectations for its athletes.

The competition for Olympic spots was fierce, with a total of 28 allocations for men and 21 for women. This underscores the challenge and prestige associated with qualifying for the Olympics. The Kazakh national team had previously secured two boxing licenses during the Summer Asian Games in Hangzhou, further showcasing their talent and determination in the sport.

The nation eagerly anticipates cheering on their boxers as they prepare to represent Kazakhstan at the 2024 Paris Olympics and showcase their skills on the global stage.
