Kazakh Designer Unveils Nomad Yurt Lego Set

Kazakh Designer Creates Lego Model of Nomad Yurt to Preserve Nomadic Culture

ASTANA — Kazakh creator Ainur Polatova and her team have crafted a Lego model of the traditional Nomadic yurt to showcase the essence of nomadic life to a global audience. The Lego Corporation provides designers with a unique platform where they can upload and exhibit their models. Models that receive 10,000 public votes have the opportunity to become official Lego sets, available for mass production worldwide.

According to the project’s Instagram, Polatova’s team saw this as a chance to emphasize the yurt as a symbol of the nomadic way of life, embodying core values such as mobility, simplicity, and harmony with nature. The project also seeks to remind people of the sustainable, nature-centered lifestyle passed down by nomadic ancestors.

The Lego yurt model features intricate details that reflect traditional nomadic life. One notable aspect is the inclusion of Altybakan, a traditional hanging swing that multiple people can enjoy simultaneously. The exterior of the yurt showcases cattle, a key element of nomadic life, while the interior is adorned with traditional carpets and a table set for guests. Designers also included a figure of a woman preparing food to highlight the culture’s focus on hospitality.

Esquire Kazakhstan Journal reports that the potential audience for the Nomad Yurt Lego set surpasses 500 million individuals worldwide, with nomadic culture resonating in numerous countries.
