Kazakh Eco-Startups Ready to Showcase Innovation at UNIDO Global Event and COP30
Five Kazakh eco-startups have secured the opportunity to showcase their innovations on a global platform after their impressive performance at the 2024 Global Cleantech Innovation Programme finals in Astana. These startups will represent Kazakhstan at the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) competition in Istanbul in 2025, as well as present their projects at the 30th UN Climate Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Brazil.
The winning projects—Science and Technology Water Center, Smart Energy Solutions, Faceplate, MuratBeton Technology, and Kaz-REEcycling, which received the Women’s Leadership Prize—have demonstrated remarkable solutions in water technologies, smart energy systems, building material recycling, and sustainable waste management. This recognition not only highlights their innovative approaches but also positions them as key players in the green technology sector.
In addition to the success of these startups, the recent event in Astana saw the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIC) and prominent entities like TusHoldings from China and Zagreb Innovation Centre from Croatia. These collaborations are expected to create new avenues for Kazakh startups in green technologies, providing them with access to international expertise and resources.
The forum, attended by experts, entrepreneurs, and startups, featured various activities aimed at fostering the growth of green technologies in Kazakhstan. From workshops and business games to demo presentations and investor networking sessions, the event provided a platform for engagement and collaboration among stakeholders in the eco-innovation space.
GCIP Kazakhstan, the sole program of its kind in Central Asia, continues to support eco-technology startups in the region while engaging with partners from 15 other countries. By promoting sustainable solutions and facilitating international cooperation, the program is playing a pivotal role in advancing the green technology ecosystem in Kazakhstan and beyond.
