Kazakh Government Allocates $25 Million for Flood Relief Compensation
The Kazakh government has taken swift action to support businesses affected by recent floods, allocating 12 billion tenge (US$25.5 million) to compensate for property losses. This resolution comes after regional commissions reviewed and approved 178 applications from small and medium-sized businesses, totaling 1.5 billion tenge (US$3.2 million).
According to initial assessments by local administrations, 746 small and medium-sized businesses, including grocery stores, cafes, service stations, and hotels, were impacted by the floods. In response, the government is undertaking comprehensive efforts to address the aftermath of the disaster, including providing new housing, offering one-time financial assistance, compensating for repair and restoration costs, and more.
Construction has already begun on 2,500 new houses for affected citizens in various regions, including West Kazakhstan, Kostanai, Atyrau, Aktobe, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, and Pavlodar. Additionally, 33,321 families have received a one-time payment of 369,200 tenge (US$800) each to help them recover from the flood damage.
The government’s prompt and substantial support demonstrates its commitment to assisting businesses and citizens in rebuilding and recovering from the recent natural disaster.
