Kazakh Kokpar Team Gears Up Horses for World Nomad Games Competition

The national kokpar team of Kazakhstan is gearing up for the fifth World Nomad Games, set to take place from Sept. 8 to 13. The team is currently training horses in the Almaty Region in preparation for the prestigious event.

Head coach Akylbay Mankeyev shared that they are in the process of selecting 40 horses to represent Kazakhstan at the World Nomad Games. The team is in good shape and ready to compete, with strong rivals expected from teams in the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan.

The national kokpar federation is a part of Kazakhstan’s National Sports Association, which also oversees other traditional sports such as horse racing, horseback wrestling, outdoor games like knocking out sheep joint bones, picking up coins on horseback, horse riding, and more.

Member of the national kokpar team, Adlet Mamyt, mentioned that they have been actively preparing for the Games, focusing on both physical training and horse training. The team is dedicated to showcasing their skills and representing Kazakhstan on an international stage.
