Kazakh Prime Minister Proposes Collaboration on Artificial Intelligence at Digital Almaty 2025 Forum
ASTANA — Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan put forward a proposal for collaboration among EAEU countries to advance artificial intelligence through the Alem.ai International Center. The center is set to open in Astana later this year and was announced during the Digital Almaty 2025 forum on Jan. 31.
Bektenov highlighted the potential of AI to drive global economic growth, citing projections that suggest it could contribute $20 trillion to the global economy by 2030 and increase annual GDP growth by 2-3%. This initiative aims to position the EAEU countries at the forefront of AI development and innovation.
The Alem.ai center will function as a central hub for IT companies, research labs, startups, and educational programs, facilitating the creation of AI solutions and fostering collaboration in the field. It seeks to bring together experts and stakeholders to work towards technological advancement and economic progress.
The two-day digital forum, which drew over 40,000 attendees, focused on the integration of AI into various industries such as finance, healthcare, and education. One of the highlights of the event was the Industrial AI Battle, a startup competition with a prize fund of $60,000, aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the AI sector.
With the establishment of the Alem.ai International Center and the ongoing discussions at the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, Kazakhstan and its EAEU partners are poised to make significant strides in the field of artificial intelligence, contributing to economic growth and technological advancement in the region and beyond.
