Adelina Mukhametzhanova Wins International Piano and Vocal Competition in the United States

Sixteen-year-old Kazakh performer Adelina Mukhametzhanova recently took home first place in the international Radda Rise International Piano and Vocal Competition held in the United States. She performed Latif Khamidi’s composition “Bulbul” (Cuckoo), captivating the audience and the competition judges.

Mukhametzhanova’s performance left a lasting impression on the judges, including Giuseppe Spoletini, a member of the jury and vocal instructor at the prestigious Saint Thomas Choir School. “A virtuoso performer chose a rather complex composition, leaving an indelible impression on each of us. I have no idea what this song is about, but it made me feel every note,” said Spoletini.

The young singer expressed her gratitude for the warm reviews and attention she received for her renditions of Kazakh academic classics. Despite facing tough competition, including a third-place winner from The Juilliard School, Mukhametzhanova emerged victorious and is motivated to work even harder.

Under the guidance of her mentor Gulnar Nurgaliyeva, an associate professor at the Department of Vocal Arts at the Kurmangazy National Conservatory, Mukhametzhanova has been studying academic vocals for over seven years. Her dedication and talent have led to numerous accolades, including a performance at Carnegie Hall in December 2019 and recognition in various international competitions.

Mukhametzhanova’s remarkable achievements include participating in competitions and shows globally, such as the Sanremo Junior International Competition in Italy, the International Festival-Contest of Russian Song in the United Kingdom, and the Central Asia Got Talent show in Kazakhstan.

Her success in the Radda Rise International Piano and Vocal Competition is just the latest milestone in Adelina Mukhametzhanova’s promising career as a talented and accomplished young singer.
