Austrian National Library Showcases Independent Kazakhstan’s History
The Austrian National Library in Vienna recently celebrated Kazakhstan’s Independence Day by hosting an exhibition of the Almaty History Museum. The exhibition titled “Nomads of Kazakhstan: Traditions and Customs” opened on Dec. 13, and it was attended by representatives from various sectors, including government, culture, art, education, tourism, media, business, and the diplomatic corps.
The exhibition featured a captivating display of historical relics from the treasury of Almaty’s Association of Museums, ranging from musical instruments to household items and clothing. Visitors were particularly drawn to a beautifully decorated Kazakh yurt, which showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
Kazakh Ambassador to Austria Mukhtar Tileuberdi emphasized the significance of the exhibition’s title, stating, “Kazakhstan is the inheritor of the great nomadic civilization. Our country has been a crossroads of many societies, cultures, and religions for thousands of years. Kazakhstan is truly proud of its ancient history and diverse cultural heritage.”
In addition to the historical relics, the Alatau Folk Ensemble performed works by Kazakh composers on national instruments such as the dombra, kobyz, and sazsyrnai, adding a musical dimension to the exhibition.
The exhibition provided residents of Vienna and tourists from around the world with the opportunity to delve into Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage, further strengthening the connection between the two nations. The event served as a testament to the enduring legacy of Kazakhstan and its deep roots in history.
