Kazakh Government Discusses Integration of Digital Technologies and AI in Everyday Activities
Officials in Kazakhstan gathered for a government meeting on Dec. 24 to discuss the implementation of new digital technologies and artificial intelligence in everyday activities. Chaired by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov at the Digital Government Office, the meeting highlighted the importance of incorporating these advancements into various sectors.
During the meeting, Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev presented the progress made in this direction and showcased examples of domestic digital solutions being utilized. Projects such as the Social Wallet, OTP Registry, Online Notary, and the E-Otinish platform for organizing citizens’ requests were among those discussed.
Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized the significance of creating a digital environment to boost economic processes. He pointed out that many developed countries are investing in digitalization and artificial intelligence strategies, and Kazakhstan is no exception. Digital technologies have already been successfully implemented in areas such as industry, ecology, healthcare, education, employment, social and legal support, the tax sector, and the business environment.
One key focus of the meeting was the need to train government employees in artificial intelligence technologies in the coming year. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education was tasked with developing educational programs and courses on AI to meet this demand.
Another important aspect addressed during the meeting was the development of unified approaches for making data available in government agencies’ information systems to facilitate the use and advancement of artificial intelligence. Prime Minister Bektenov stressed the importance of creating clear legislative measures and regulatory acts to govern the use of AI, ensuring transparency, data security, ethical standards, and accountability for decisions made based on artificial intelligence.
To address the lack of awareness among the population regarding AI developments, the ministry was assigned with upgrading existing digital solutions and educating citizens in Kazakhstan about their usage. Overall, the discussions at the meeting underscored the government’s commitment to integrating digital technologies and artificial intelligence into various aspects of daily life in order to drive progress and innovation in the country.
