
Kazakhstan and Austria Strengthen Ties

Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu recently met with Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg in Vienna. The two officials discussed various topics of mutual interest, including political interaction, upcoming visits, and events at the highest levels.
Both parties expressed their support for landlocked countries and cooperation in promoting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. They also explored ways to enhance economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Austria, with a focus on attracting investments in transit, transport, and renewable energy sources.
Nurtleu and Schallenberg highlighted the importance of strengthening business ties and agreed to facilitate mutual visits of business delegations. Bilateral trade between the two countries saw a significant increase in 2023, reaching $332.6 million U.S. dollars. Additionally, Austria has invested $3 billion in Kazakhstan since 2005.
Recognizing the growing importance of the Central Asian region, both parties agreed to maintain close working contacts and continue efficient collaboration within international platforms. The meeting marked another step towards strengthening the ties between Kazakhstan and Austria in various fields of cooperation.
