Kazakh President Praises Chevron’s Role in Sustainable Energy Development
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently met with Chevron CEO Michael Wirth to congratulate him on the completion of the Tengiz field expansion project. During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized the key role that Chevron plays in the sustainable development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector.
The meeting also focused on the further implementation of large investment projects, particularly in the production of gas and petrochemical products. President Tokayev highlighted the importance of increasing the participation of domestic companies in the oil and gas industry and expressed a readiness to deepen cooperation with Chevron on a long-term basis.
Chevron CEO Michael Wirth expressed that Kazakhstan remains a strategic and reliable partner for the company. He noted the significant investments made by the Tengizchevroil joint venture in the country’s economy since 1993.
In addition to meeting with President Tokayev, Wirth also had discussions with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov regarding oil production and refining cooperation. The officials talked about the implementation of joint projects, prospects for the development of domestic petrochemicals, and the construction of new gas processing plants.
One of the key focuses of the discussions was on the implementation of the Future Growth Project at the Tengiz field. Prime Minister Bektenov stressed the need to increase local content by developing an industrial cluster based on Tengiz to boost domestic added value and support the development of small and medium-sized businesses.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the strong partnership between Kazakhstan and Chevron in the energy sector and the commitment to furthering sustainable development and cooperation in the industry.
