Kazakhstan and EU in Ongoing Discussions on Visa Easing for Kazakh Nationals

Kazakhstan and EU Discuss Visa Facilitation for Kazakh Citizens
Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev and Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Kazakhstan Kestutis Jankauskas recently met to discuss the facilitation of the visa application process for Kazakh citizens. The meeting, which took place on Jan. 27, focused on holding the second round of formal consultations to streamline the visa process.
According to the Foreign Ministry’s press service, visa facilitation would entail reduced consular fees, increased visa validity period, reduced time for processing of applications, and a unified list of documents required for a visa. This move aims to make it easier for Kazakh citizens to travel to EU countries for various purposes.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen friendly relations in the consular sphere. This demonstrates a commitment to enhancing cooperation and improving the visa process for Kazakh citizens.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan unilaterally introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of all EU states in 2017. This was done in an effort to promote business cooperation, tourism, and people-to-people contact between Kazakhstan and EU member states.
Overall, the discussions between Kazakhstan and the EU indicate a mutual desire to enhance travel and cooperation between the two entities. The upcoming formal consultations are expected to pave the way for a more streamlined and efficient visa application process for Kazakh citizens wishing to travel to EU countries.
