Kazakhstan and France Strengthen Bilateral Partnership

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Marat Karabayev, has stated that France is one of the country’s key trade, economic, and strategic partners in Europe. Speaking at the 15th session of the Kazakh-French Intergovernmental Commission, Karabayev reported that France is one of the top five major investors in Kazakhstan, with more than $18 billion having been invested in the country to date. Over 180 businesses with French participation operate in the country. Following a meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Olivier Becht, Minister-Delegate for Foreign Trade, the two countries are looking to cooperate on a range of areas, including agriculture, digitalization, healthcare, energy, industry, and transport. The session concluded with a joint communiqué being signed, as well as several memorandums of understanding on areas including underground research, telemedicine, and personnel training.
