Kazakh Prime Minister and German Logistics CEO Discuss Cooperation in Transport Sector
Olzhas Bektenov, the Kazakh Prime Minister, recently met with Tobias Bartz, CEO of the Rhenus Group, an international logistics service provider based in Germany. The purpose of their meeting was to discuss potential cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, as reported by the Prime Minister’s press service on May 23.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ongoing projects and explored opportunities for new Kazakh-German ventures that could enhance Kazakhstan’s transit capacity. One key focus was on the development of rail transportation and the modernization of storage infrastructure in the country.
The Rhenus Group is a prominent player in the global logistics industry, ranking among the 25 largest logistics companies worldwide. With a network comprising 70 terminals and 22 container terminals across Europe, the group is well-positioned to contribute to Kazakhstan’s logistics landscape.
Bartz acknowledged Kazakhstan’s increasing significance in the realm of global logistics and expressed a keen interest in collaborating with Kazakh businesses to boost terminal capacity. This collaboration aims to bridge Europe’s supply chain with Central Asia, facilitating smoother trade and transportation processes.
Prime Minister Bektenov highlighted Kazakhstan’s strategic location as a key transit hub, with major transcontinental transport corridors passing through the country. Kazakhstan plays a crucial role in connecting Europe with China and Southeast Asia through efficient transport routes.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to maximizing the country’s transport and logistics potential.
