Kazakhstan and IMF Renew Economic Partnership Commitment

Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Bo Li met on Sept. 16 to discuss strengthening their partnership in various areas of interaction. The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the IMF in the financial and economic spheres.
The collaborative efforts between the two parties have yielded positive outcomes in areas such as structural reforms, fiscal policy development, and the financial sector of Kazakhstan. The opening of the IMF Regional Center for Capacity Development for the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia in Almaty last year has further boosted bilateral and regional dialogue on maintaining global financial stability.
In a recent development, the international agency Moody’s upgraded Kazakhstan’s ratings, reflecting the ongoing improvement of the institutional environment and the sustainability of economic diversification in the country. Bo Li expressed interest in continuing close cooperation with Kazakhstan to further develop the economy and enhance the well-being of the people.
Kazakhstan has been a member of the IMF since 1992, and the long-term partnership between the two entities plays a crucial role in ensuring the country’s economic stability and promoting high-quality, sustainable growth. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Bo Li, which will be available on The Astana Times YouTube channel soon.
