Kazakhstan and PACE Strengthen Commitment to Shared Values of Human Rights and Democracy
Astana – The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Theodoros Rousopoulos, and Chairman of the Senate, the upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, Maulen Ashimbayev, have reaffirmed their commitment to the shared values of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. This announcement was made by the PACE press service on April 27.
The joint statement highlights the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between PACE and the Parliament of Kazakhstan. It emphasizes the strong commitment to the fundamental values of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, which serve as the foundation of both institutions.
Over the past two decades, this cooperation agreement has played a crucial role in enhancing dialogue and promoting mutual understanding between the Council of Europe and Kazakhstan. It has also contributed significantly to strengthening the rule of law and democratic consolidation in the country.
