
Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia to Enhance Energy and Investment Collaboration

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud recently met to discuss the prospects of developing energy and investment cooperation between their two countries. The meeting, which took place on March 7, was reported by the Akorda press service.
During the meeting, President Tokayev highlighted the unprecedented level that Kazakh-Saudi relations have reached, emphasizing the positive impact of agreements made with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Tokayev expressed his confidence in the bright future of the relationship between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.
In response, Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman expressed gratitude for the warm welcome received from President Tokayev and reiterated the significance of the deep historical ties between the two countries. Saudi Arabia was among the first nations to support Kazakhstan following its independence.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the discussion of a joint investment project between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia. Chairman of the Saudi company ACWA Power, Mohammad Abunayya, presented plans for the construction of a 1 gigawatt wind power plant in the Zhetisu Region, as well as future collaboration in the field of green energy. Following the meeting, both governments signed an agreement to proceed with the construction of the wind power plant.
Overall, the discussions between President Tokayev and Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman underscored the commitment of both countries to enhancing energy cooperation and exploring new opportunities for investment. The meeting reflected the positive trajectory of Kazakh-Saudi relations and set the stage for further collaboration in the energy sector and beyond.
