Kazakhstan and South Korea Showcase Progress in Artificial Intelligence Implementation
Kazakhstan and South Korea recently came together at a diplomatic seminar in Astana to discuss their advancements in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across the public sector. The seminar, held on April 21, aimed to highlight the efforts of both countries in ensuring that AI technology delivers tangible benefits to the public.
Ambassador of Korea to Kazakhstan, Tae-ick Cho, emphasized Korea’s commitment to promoting AI as a key factor in national competitiveness. He mentioned the country’s initiatives to foster ethical and inclusive AI ecosystems through various policy measures. Cho also expressed Korea’s active involvement in shaping global AI governance frameworks based on universal values.
Acknowledging Kazakhstan’s achievements in becoming a digital hub of Central Asia, Cho commended the establishment of the Alem.ai center in Astana as a platform for AI development and promotion. He emphasized the potential for mutual growth in the economies and societies of both nations through collaboration on AI technologies and policies.
Dmitry Mun, deputy minister of the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry, shared Kazakhstan’s experience in integrating AI into the public sector. With over 20 years of experience in e-government development, Kazakhstan has established a robust gov-tech architecture entirely in-house.
Mun explained that Kazakhstan’s AI integration journey has evolved from foundational infrastructure to advanced AI-driven services, with an emphasis on delivering tangible public benefits. The country has already exported AI solutions to other countries, demonstrating its readiness for innovation and cooperation in the tech sector.
The Kazakh ministry has initiated 50 projects involving 16 government bodies, with plans to reach over eight million citizens by 2026. By conducting comprehensive analyses and leveraging global best practices in AI, Kazakhstan aims to ensure that its AI initiatives lead to substantial improvements in public services.
The collaborative efforts between Kazakhstan and South Korea in AI implementation reflect a shared commitment to harnessing technology for the betterment of society. As both nations continue to advance in the field of AI, the potential for further collaboration and mutual growth remains promising.
