Kazakhstan Bolsters Investment and Trade Relations with Kuwait
Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu recently extended an invitation to Kuwaiti investors to participate in major projects in Kazakhstan. During the third ministerial meeting of the Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council on April 15, Nurtleu emphasized the country’s commitment to provide comprehensive support to Kuwaiti investors looking to venture into Kazakhstan.
At a meeting with Waleed Al-Bahar, a director general of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Nurtleu explored opportunities for cooperation in sustainable development, financing infrastructure projects, and supporting socially significant initiatives. The discussions also revolved around the possibility of utilizing KFAED resources for projects in energy, water supply, and agriculture.
Further engagements with Imad Al-Zaid, deputy director general of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused on strengthening bilateral trade, promoting business activities, and creating a conducive environment for enhancing ties between the business communities of both countries. The parties identified key sectors for collaboration, including the agro-industrial complex, raw materials processing, and transport and logistics.
The Kuwaiti delegation expressed interest in organizing business delegation exchanges to further explore investment opportunities in Kazakhstan. Al-Bahar confirmed his participation in the upcoming Astana International Forum, scheduled for May 29-30, underscoring the commitment to fostering closer economic ties between Kuwait and Kazakhstan.
Overall, Nurtleu’s outreach to Kuwaiti investors signals Kazakhstan’s eagerness to attract foreign investments and drive economic growth through strategic partnerships. With a focus on key sectors and collaborative opportunities, both countries stand to benefit from enhanced cooperation and mutually beneficial ventures in the near future.
