Kazakhstan Rises to 44th in Open Data Inventory Ranking
ASTANA – Kazakhstan has achieved a notable advancement in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) ranking by Open Data Watch, climbing to 44th place among 198 countries, according to the Bureau of National Statistics on May 5.
This marks a significant improvement from previous years, with the nation ranking 54th out of 187 countries in 2020, 51st out of 195 in 2022, and 48th out of 192 in 2023. In 2024, Kazakhstan received an overall score of 72 out of a possible 100, reflecting its commitment to enhancing data openness and coverage in key sectors of official statistics.
One of the standout achievements for Kazakhstan in this year’s ranking is its impressive performance in the coverage category, where it secured 14th place. This underscores the country’s efforts to improve public access to information and promote transparency within governmental data.
The top spot in the 2024 ODIN ranking goes to Malaysia, with a score of 90, followed by Singapore, Finland, Denmark, and Poland, rounding out the top five.
The ODIN ranking, which has been assessing the openness and completeness of official statistics since its inception in 2015, aims to identify data gaps, encourage open data policies, and foster dialogue between statistical authorities and the public. As Kazakhstan continues to make strides in data transparency, its upward trajectory in the ODIN rankings is a testament to its ongoing commitment to open data governance.
