Kazakhstan Establishes Council for Strategic Partnership with Foreign Universities
Astana – Kazakhstan has taken a significant step towards enhancing collaboration with foreign universities by establishing a council for strategic partnership. Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova announced this initiative during a meeting with the heads of international universities on Oct. 18.
“This council will serve as a permanent platform for exchanging opinions and finding innovative solutions, considering the interests of all participants,” Duissenova stated.
Currently, 23 foreign universities are operating in various regions of Kazakhstan. Duissenova expressed the country’s keen interest in strengthening ties with these institutions.
The meeting highlighted the importance of developing a unified general rule for strategic partnership that respects the academic and managerial freedom of universities. The goal is to promote scientific research, transfer advanced educational programs, and enhance teaching methods to maintain high education standards.
Representatives of foreign universities showed support for the creation of the council and the establishment of common rules for strategic partnership, emphasizing the mutual desire to deepen cooperation.
In another significant development, Duissenova met with the Regional Director of Pearson, Arkadiusz Jaworski, to discuss the training and certification of Kazakh specialists. Pearson is a leading global education company and the largest awarding organization in the United Kingdom, offering a wide range of academic, vocational, and work-based learning qualifications.
The discussion focused on the development of the domestic national qualification system, which includes employer technical assignments, corresponding educational programs, and student assessment for certification. Jaworski expressed readiness to collaborate with relevant ministries to implement international educational standards and an independent certification system.
“We prioritize the needs of employers when developing standards. We are prepared to work together to establish qualification standards, evaluate educational programs, and make necessary improvements,” stated Jaworski.
Overall, these initiatives demonstrate Kazakhstan’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with foreign universities and enhancing the quality of education in the country.
