Kazakhstan Expands Internet Coverage to Remote Areas with Eutelsat-OneWeb Testing

Kazakhstan Tests Eutelsat-OneWeb Satellite Internet Services to Enhance Connectivity in Rural Areas
Kazakhstan recently tested the Eutelsat-OneWeb satellite broadband internet services at the Kokterek Space Communications Center in Almaty. This initiative aims to improve internet access in rural areas where traditional connection methods are limited or non-existent.
The testing was attended by Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev. The project aims to provide stable and high-speed internet access to remote regions of the country, benefiting residents who currently struggle with connectivity issues.
The Ministry stated on Oct. 22 that the introduction of satellite communications services through the Eutelsat-OneWeb group is strategically important for Kazakhstan. Unlike other satellite systems, Eutelsat-OneWeb is focused on providing services to private companies, telecommunications operators, and government agencies, making it a valuable partner for various markets.
Eutelsat-OneWeb is widely used in aviation, maritime transportation, and the corporate sector, showcasing its versatility and reliability. The OneWeb gateway station at the Kokterek Central Satellite Communications Center will provide coverage for both Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region.
Minister Madiyev emphasized that high-speed internet access will not only enhance the quality of life in remote areas but also contribute to their socio-economic development by providing access to educational and informational resources.
Local telecommunications company Jusan Mobile JSC has partnered with Eutelsat-OneWeb in Kazakhstan. The full launch of satellite internet services is scheduled for January next year, promising improved connectivity for rural communities across the country.
