Kazakhstan Expands Road Transportation to Baltic Countries

The Minister of Transport in Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, has announced a significant increase in the number of additional permit forms for road transportation to European countries, specifically Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. This announcement was made by the ministry’s press service on May 20.
The demand for permit forms from European countries by Kazakh carriers has seen a sharp rise in recent times. More than 70% of the permit forms previously received from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have already been issued to Kazakh carriers. To meet this demand, Kazakhstan has negotiated and agreed on additional permit forms, including 6,000 from Latvia, 800 from Estonia, and 3,000 from Lithuania.
Minister Karabayev stated that the total number of permit forms for road transport with these countries has exceeded 29,000 for the year 2024, marking a record figure for the country. It is expected that increasing permit forms will enhance trade turnover between Kazakhstan and European countries and reduce transportation costs.
In order to facilitate the accelerated passage of Kazakh vehicles at borders, the ministry is considering establishing a representative office at the Latvian border. This office would assist in expediting the passage of Kazakh vehicles through checkpoints, further streamlining the transportation process.
