Kazakhstan Leads the Way in Promoting Regional Stability and Security in Asia Cooperation Dialogue
Kazakhstan reaffirms commitment to regional security and cooperation at Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting
ASTANA – Kazakhstan reiterated its support for international efforts to strengthen regional security, stability, and conflict resolution during the 19th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting, which took place in Tehran on June 23-24.
First Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin highlighted the importance of collective measures amidst growing geopolitical tensions, climate change, disruption of trade relations, and the reduction of food and energy security in the Asian and Middle East regions. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s initiatives such as World Unity for Just Peace and Harmony, and the establishment of the International Agency for Biological Safety and the UN Regional Centre for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
Rakhmetullin also encouraged experts and investors from ACD countries to utilize the Astana Hub platform for practical interaction in technology and innovation, stressing the need to bridge the digital and technological gap in Asia.
The meeting participants adopted the Tehran Declaration and approved the Guiding Principles for the Functioning of the ACD secretariat and the Rules of Procedures of the ACD.
On the sidelines of the event, Rakhmetullin held bilateral meetings with Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri and Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Reza Najafi to discuss the international agenda and prospects for further bilateral cooperation.
The ACD, established in 2002, serves as an inter-state platform for dialogue, consultations, decision-making, and consensus-based actions in various sectors of political and economic cooperation in Asia. With 35 member states from Asia and the Middle East, Kazakhstan joined the ACD in 2003 to contribute to regional peace and cooperation.
