Kazakhstan’s Men’s Hockey Team Advances to Gold Medal Match at Asian Winter Games
ASTANA – Kazakhstan’s men’s hockey team secured a spot in the gold medal match at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin after defeating China 3-1 in the semi-finals, as reported by the National Olympic Committee.
The team’s victory was a result of a strong performance on the ice, with players showcasing their skills and determination. The win has set them up for a chance to claim the top prize in the competition on Feb. 14.
In another exciting development, Kazakhstan’s women’s team in curling also had a successful outing, beating Hong Kong 6-3. They are now set to face South Korea in the semi-finals, where they will look to continue their winning streak.
In biathlon events, Kazakhstan’s athletes also displayed impressive performances, with the women’s team – comprised of Darya Klimina, Arina Kryukova, Olga Poltoranina, and Yelizaveta Beletskaya – clinching a bronze medal in the 4*6 kilometer relay. The men’s biathlon team followed suit, earning a silver medal with the efforts of Alexandr Mukhin, Asset Dyussenov, Kirill Bauer, and Vladislav Kireyev.
Reflecting on his success, Kireyev expressed his satisfaction with the team’s achievements, stating, “Overall, I am pleased with myself. Two medals at my first Asian Games. Thanks to my teammates. We fought with full dedication. Now off to the World Championships.”
On Feb. 12, Kazakhstan’s women’s cross-country skiing team secured a silver medal, while the men’s team managed to earn bronze, further adding to the country’s impressive showing at the games.
