Kazakhstan National Museum Celebrates 10 Years with Fine Art Catalog
The National Museum of Kazakhstan recently unveiled a catalog of its best masterpieces of fine art as part of the exhibition “Painting of the Steppe: Symbols, Colors, Images” in honor of the museum’s 10th anniversary. The exhibition features works by esteemed Kazakh artists such as Abylkhan Kasteyev, Aubakir Ismailov, Ural Tansykbayev, and many more.
Akmaral Ibraeva, the museum’s deputy director for scientific work, shared that several events are scheduled to celebrate the museum’s milestone anniversary, with the highlight being the exhibition of the museum’s fine art collection. This collection includes approximately 200 exceptional works out of a total of over 4,000 paintings.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his interest in the exhibition, emphasizing its significance in showcasing the rich and original world of Kazakh painting. Renowned art critic Olga Baturina curated the exhibition and presented the catalog to the President, underscoring the goal of highlighting the museum’s collection and the uniqueness of Kazakh painting. The meticulous preparation for the exhibition spanned nine months.
The National Museum of Kazakhstan boasts an extensive collection of 223,879 exhibits and has welcomed over 4.6 million visitors in the past decade, including 2.2 million attendees at foreign exhibitions. Furthermore, this year, the museum had the privilege of displaying “La Bella Principessa,” one of the 15 works by the renowned Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.
The exhibition serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and artistic diversity of Kazakhstan, offering a captivating glimpse into the country’s vibrant and distinctive painting tradition.
