Kazakhstan Plans Ambitious Projects with China and Iran
The recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Astana on July 4 has delivered positive outcomes for Kazakhstan. One notable development is the agreement between Kazakh Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov and Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian to build major hydraulic structures in Kazakhstan. Iranian companies are set to implement large-scale projects, similar to the Bakhtiari dam and hydroelectric power station, to enhance irrigation water transportation and reduce losses from evaporation, particularly in the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan and China have agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, specifically in technical and vocational education. Kazakh Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev and Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng have signed agreements to facilitate exchanges and internships for college students and teachers between the two countries. Additionally, China will provide grants and opportunities for the study of the Chinese language in Kazakhstan.
In the field of aerospace technology, Kazakhstan and China have also signed agreements to develop the space industry. The Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry will receive a grant from China to advance projects related to computational astronomy, scientific infrastructure, and the operation of the International Lunar Research Station. This collaboration is expected to enhance the skills and expertise of Kazakh specialists in space exploration and technological advancements.
