Kazakhstan to Build First Nuclear Power Plant in Zhambyl District
Kazakhstan has officially selected the Zhambyl district in the Almaty Region as the location for its first nuclear power plant (NPP). A government decree was issued to announce this decision, as reported by Kazinform on Feb. 25.
The country has recently completed discussions with potential technology suppliers for the construction of the NPP. The Ministry of Energy has estimated that the plant could be built within a timeframe of eight years.
