Kazakhstan Among Top 10 Countries for Iron Ore Production and Reserves in 2022

In a recent report by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) released in January, Kazakhstan has been recognized as one of the top 10 countries for significant iron ore production and reserves in 2022. The report, as reported by Energyprom.kz agency on March 7, highlights Kazakhstan’s role in the global iron ore market.

According to the USGS data, Kazakhstan ranked ninth in output, producing a total of 66 million tons of iron ore in the specified year. This indicates the country’s growing contribution to the global iron ore supply chain.

The overall global iron ore production for 2022 reached almost 2.8 billion tons, with iron ore accounting for a substantial volume of 93.3%, equal to 2.6 billion tons. Out of this amount, 1.6 billion tons had a significant iron content, highlighting the importance of iron ore in various industries.

Among the top producers, Australia led the world in iron ore production with 880 million tons, followed by Brazil with 410 million tons, China with 380 million tons, and India with 290 million tons. Kazakhstan’s inclusion in the list reflects its growing potential in the iron ore sector.

As the global demand for iron ore continues to rise, Kazakhstan’s presence in the top 10 countries for iron ore production and reserves signifies its importance in the global market. With ongoing developments and investments in the mining industry, Kazakhstan is poised to further strengthen its position as a key player in the iron ore market.
