Kazakhstan reaffirms dedication to multilateral cooperation at global policy forum
Kazakhstan’s Multivector Diplomacy Highlighted at World Policy Conference
At the 17th annual World Policy Conference (WPC) in Abu Dhabi, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to a multivector, pragmatic, and balanced foreign policy since gaining independence. Vassilenko stated that Kazakhstan’s approach over the past 30 years has been focused on cooperation, engagement, and mutual benefit rather than rivalry and isolation.
During the conference, Vassilenko referenced the Kazakh yurt as a symbol of Kazakhstan’s aversion to choosing sides that go against its mentality. French scholar Thierry de Montbrial praised Kazakhstan’s diplomatic course as a model for multivector diplomacy, recognizing the country as a responsible partner in the international community.
In addressing global challenges as a middle power, Kazakhstan is actively engaging with like-minded nations to find collective solutions and encourage global superpowers to prioritize humanity’s interests. Vassilenko reiterated President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s call for reforms of the UN Security Council to better represent current global realities.
Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Kazakhstan maintains a neutral stance and advocates for a diplomatic resolution. Vassilenko highlighted the country’s constructive ties with all sides and willingness to serve as a neutral host country if needed, while maintaining positive relations with Russia, Ukraine, and the West.
Overall, Kazakhstan’s multivector diplomacy and commitment to cooperation have positioned the country as a key player in addressing global challenges and promoting peace and stability on the international stage.
