Kazakh Prosecutor General Discusses Crime Fighting Priorities at SCO Meeting

Astana – Kazakh Prosecutor General Berik Asylov participated in the 22nd meeting of the Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, which took place on July 25 in Bishkek. During the meeting, Asylov discussed key aspects and priorities in the fight against crime.

According to the Kazakh Prosecutor’s General press service, heads of prosecutor’s offices from several countries including Belarus, India, Iran, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan came together to exchange experiences. They agreed to establish necessary conditions to enhance international cooperation in modern information technologies, personal data protection, and the combating of cybercrime.

Asylov also shared his insights on using digital technologies to combat various types of crime and discussed activities related to attracting and protecting investments. He emphasized President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s focus on strengthening mutual trust and cooperation in security under the SCO Initiative On World Unity for a Just Peace, Harmony, and Development, urging prosecutor’s offices to take appropriate implementation measures.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed outlining the main directions for further cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of the SCO member states. Additionally, Asylov held bilateral meetings with the Prosecutors General of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Russia to discuss joint activities aimed at protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring law and order.

The discussions and agreements reached at the SCO meeting highlight the commitment of member states to work together in combatting crime and promoting security in the region. The exchange of experiences and the focus on utilizing modern technologies demonstrate a proactive approach towards addressing the challenges posed by criminal activities in the digital age.
