This surge in tourist arrivals is a positive sign for the country’s tourism industry.
In 2022, 609,800 tourists visited Kazakhstan, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports on Jan. 9. This steady growth in the number of tourists visiting the country reflects the increasing interest in Kazakhstan as a travel destination.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev expressed his optimism about the upward trend, stating, “We observe a growing interest in Kazakhstan among foreign tourists each year, and we hope that this year’s figures will surpass last year’s mark. Our country has numerous breathtaking places that captivate foreigners with the beauty of its nature.”
The statistical data also reveals the expanding geographic diversity of foreign tourists visiting Kazakhstan. While a significant number of travelers come from neighboring countries such as Russia, there has also been an increase in tourists from distant lands.
In the first nine months of 2023, the majority of travelers hailed from Russia, with 356,850 visitors. Chinese tourists secured the second position with 75,131 visitors, and the recent visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and China is expected to further boost tourist arrivals from China. Tourists from Türkiye claimed the third spot with 41,134 visitors, followed by India and the United States.
The increase in foreign tourist arrivals is a testament to the growing popularity of Kazakhstan as a travel destination. With its diverse natural landscapes and cultural attractions, the country offers a unique and enriching experience for travelers from around the world. This positive trend in tourist arrivals bodes well for the future of Kazakhstan’s tourism industry.
