Kazakhstan Provides Humanitarian Aid to Kyrgyz Republic After Power Plant Accident

In response to the recent accident at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant in the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan has allocated 2,000 tons of diesel fuel as humanitarian aid. The Kazakh Ministry for Emergency Situations announced on Feb. 29 that the first shipment of 1,000 tons was dispatched on Feb. 28 from the Zarya branch of the Reserve national enterprise in 17 tank cars.

President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to support the Kyrgyz nation, leading to the allocation of batches of diesel fuel from the state material reserve. The humanitarian cargo will be handed over to representatives of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy to assist in addressing the aftermath of the accident.

The explosion of one of the boilers at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant on Feb. 2 resulted in damaged operating equipment, leaving approximately 10% of residents without heating and hot water. Kazakhstan’s assistance aims to provide immediate relief and support to the affected communities in the Kyrgyz Republic during this challenging time.
